Cherai Beach is a beach located in Cherai in the northern side of Vypin Island, a suburb of the city Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. One of the most visited beaches in the state, it is situated at around 25 km from downtown Kochi and 20 km from Cochin International Airport.The drive to the beach along roads flanked by low-lying paddy fields is a delightful experience.The beautiful beach has calm waters perfect for swimming. The charm of the popular getaway is enhanced by the palm-fringed backwaters on the way there and the frequent appearance of dolphins in the waters near the beach.The place has grown in popularity as a tourist destination and is now a relatively crowded area with visitors and vendors. There are a number of hotels and restaurants near the beach.
